Guadalupe Colin, MLIS '16, was appointed librarian at the Palatine Public Library District.

Monica Dombrowski, MLIS '08, was appointed director of digital services at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, Illinois. Ms. Dombrowski, along with Melissa Bernasek, MLIS '06, published a chapter in Teaching Technology in Libraries: Creating Ideas for Training Staff, Patrons, and Students (McFarland, 2016). The chapter is titled "The Accidental Trainer: Instructional Librarianship in the Modern Day Library."

Teresa Espinoza, MLIS '16, was appointed children's librarian at the Wrightwood-Ashburn Branch of the Chicago Public Library.

Rebecca Heard, MLIS '16, was appointed adult services librarian at the Archer Heights Branch of the Chicago Public Library.

Kyle Jones, MLIS '09, won the ALISE Research Grant Competition for "Algorithms in the Library: An Investigation into Academic Library Participation in Learning Analytics and Related Intellectual Freedom and Privacy Issues."

Joanna Marek, MLIS '08 and MAEA '12, will present "Perfect Pairings: Teaching Visual Literacy Using Primary Source Pairings with the Caldecott, Newbery, & Coretta Scott King Book Award Titles" at the American Association of School Librarians' annual conference in Phoenix, November 9-11, 2017.

Rachel Reinwald, MLIS '10 was awarded "Citizen of the Year" by Illinois School District 41 in Lake Villa, Illinois, where she works as school services liaison.

John Schumacher, MLIS '10, was featured in a news story about his work as Scholastic Book Fairs' ambassador for school libraries.

Leigh Anne Wilson, MLIS ’16, was appointed youth services librarian at the St. Charles (IL) Public Library.
