This course offers an introduction to the history, purpose, functions, structure and management of the school library media program serving students in elementary, middle and secondary schools. It includes broad planning in areas such as curriculum, personnel, facilities, finance, acquisitions and public relations, and examination of contemporary issues, legislation and technologies. Review of psychological frameworks of elementary, middle and senior high school students and social issues affecting children and adolescents as well as service to the exceptional child will be examined.

This is a required course for the school library media program or endorsement; also, this course may be used to fufill the management course requirement for the MLIS program.
