Organization of Knowledge


An overview of principles, methods and systems in the organization of all types of library materials and information. An introduction to the basic-level use and interpretation of Resource Description & Access (RDA), subject headings (Library of Congress Subject Headings), classification (Dewey Decimal Classification & Library of Congress Classification), authority control and Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC21) (Machine Readable Cataloging).

This course is a required core course for the MLIS program, and is also required for the school library media program or endorsement.
